Overview

In Sea of Conquest, alliances are called Gangs. They form the social and strategic backbone of the game. A gang brings multiple players together to collectively gather resources, control territory, coordinate battles, and support each other in the game world. Playing solo means missing out on some of the most important reward sources and leaving yourself vulnerable to coordinated attacks from other gangs.

The gang system unlocks once your flagship reaches Level 4. From that point you can join an existing gang or found your own for 400 Emeralds. At Flagship Level 9, founding your own gang becomes free.

After leaving a gang, a cooldown of 8 hours applies before you can join a new one.

Gang Rank Hierarchy (R1–R5)

Every gang has a clear rank structure that governs the rights and responsibilities of its members:

Rank Title Rights and Duties
R5 Leader Full control over the gang; appoints R4 officers; can abandon territory
R4 Officer Can abandon Sentry Towers; coordinates war actions; manages diplomacy treaties
R3 Lieutenant Elevated permissions; rank is assigned by the leader
R2 Veteran Active member with elevated rank; awarded for activity and contributions
R1 Member Entry rank upon joining; no administrative rights

Ranks are assigned by the leader at their discretion and are typically higher for active members who donate regularly, participate in gang events, and assist others.

Territory Control and Gang Warfare

The territory system is at the heart of competitive gang play. Every gang strives to control Sentry Towers, strongholds, ports, and passes.

Goal of territorial expansion: A gang starts by capturing a Stronghold and then expands step by step via Sentry Towers toward higher-value ports — from Level-1 to Level-3 ports and ultimately to the Inner Ocean Gates.

Territory Target Significance
Sentry Towers Basic territory expansion; count is limited
Level-1 Port First extended trading post; basic trade bonuses
Level-2 Port Higher-value goods and trade profits
Level-3 Port Premium goods; hub of trade operations
Inner Ocean Gates (Passes) Access to further sea regions; strategically decisive

Gang Flag System: The gang flag is a key element. Only territorial waters fully connected to the building where the gang flag is raised count as valid. Sentry Towers without a direct connection to the flag building are invalid, but still count toward the maximum number of held towers.

Gang Diplomacy and Treaties

Since Update v1.1.230, gangs can conclude official diplomatic agreements:

Treaty Type Condition Effect
Ceasefire Treaty Both gangs must agree Neither side can attack members of the other gang for the treaty's duration
Slaughter Treaty Can be initiated unilaterally No Infamy is earned for killing members of the opposing gang for the treaty's duration

Benefits of Gang Membership

Belonging to an active gang provides numerous tangible advantages:

Benefit Description
Free Resources Via the Help function, members receive speed-ups, wood, iron, gold, and emeralds from the gang stash
Daily Salary Daily income based on gang strength, territory, unlocked Savvy nodes, and weekly trophies
Gang Stash Communal reward chest; active members can claim resources
20% Trade Bonus Selling at ports occupied by your own gang yields 20% more gold
Gang Auction Weekly dividends and rare drops; dedicated auction events with premium items
Gang Seals Contributions are rewarded with Gang Seals that can be exchanged in the Gang Shop for resources, hero moves, and cosmetics
Gang Events Exclusive events like “Showdown O' Gangs” (gang vs. gang battles); one of the few sources of Anthem Shells
Cooperative Battles Joint battles against monster nests, enemy ports, or other gangs

Guild Relations vs. Gangs

Unlike gangs (player alliances), Guilds are NPCs that control ports. The relationship with them is maintained separately and is closely tied to the trading system.

Guild relationship levels:

Level Benefit
Neutral (and below) Basic trade; no Auto-Trade
Friendly Auto-Trade unlocked; free guild sail template in the Guild Emporium
Respect Higher-value goods in the trade center
Reverence Even more valuable trade goods
Worship Legendary heroes purchasable in the Guild Emporium

Auto-Trade is one of the most efficient methods for improving guild relations and simultaneously yields resources.

Leveling Up Your Gang and Savvy Nodes

Gangs can be upgraded through collective contributions from members. Savvy Nodes (Superpower Nodes) provide bonuses for the entire gang — these include the “Mighty Gang” and “Expansion of Ranks” nodes, which increase the gang's overall strength and member capacity.

Tips

  • Tip: Join a gang as early as possible — even a small active gang is far better than none. Free resources, speed-ups, and protection are valuable from the start.
  • Tip: If possible, join the strongest gang in your corner of the sea and help it maintain its rank. The stronger the gang, the higher the daily income and protective effect.
  • Tip: Donate regularly, participate in gang events, and help other members — your rank will be raised by the leader if you are active. Higher ranks mean more influence and trust.
  • Tip: Make use of the 20% trade bonus at ports your gang occupies. Watch for opportunities to sell goods there or set up Auto-Trade.
  • Tip: Bring all guild relationships to “Friendly” to unlock Auto-Trade in all ports. Then focus on one guild and try to reach “Worship” to be able to purchase Legendary heroes.
  • Tip: Use gang diplomacy treaties strategically: a ceasefire with a strong neighboring gang secures your flank while you expand territory in other directions.
  • Tip: Always complete daily gang tasks and commissions — they yield Guild Commemorative Coins, which quickly improve guild relations and unlock enormous advantages over time.
