Overview

Fleet management is one of the core systems in Sea of Conquest. Every player commands a Flagship as the anchor of their fleet, supported by companion ships that form combat formations together. Choosing the right ship types, assembling the correct crew, and understanding the different damage types are all essential for success in battles against sea monsters, enemy fleets, and other players in PvP.

The Flagship determines the maximum level of all ships in the fleet and the available equipment slots. Upgrading the Flagship is therefore the top priority. At the start of the game, two companion ships can be brought into the fleet; as the Flagship levels up further, up to five companion ships can be unlocked, resulting in a maximum fleet size of six ships.

Fleet Composition and Side Ship Slots

Side ship slots are unlocked progressively by leveling up the Flagship:

Flagship Level Unlocked Slot
Starting area Slot 1 and 2 (available immediately)
Level 22 Slot 3 (3rd companion ship)
Level 31 Slot 4 (4th companion ship)
Further leveling Slot 5 (5th companion ship)

The Flagship takes the role of the tank and should be built for maximum HP and armor (AMR). If the Flagship falls in battle, the entire fleet is lost. Companion ships take on the damage-dealer role and are specialized according to formation type.

Separating and Swapping Ships from the Fleet

Companion ships can be removed from or swapped within the active fleet at any time:

  • Drag-and-drop separation: Press and hold a companion ship's icon, then drag it onto an empty area of water. The ship leaves the formation and can be deployed independently.
  • Swap via the Overview menu: Tap the rectangular flag icon on the right side of the screen, then select “Overview.” Tap the ship you want to swap and confirm the change.
  • Swap via the gear icon: Tap the small gear icon above the ship list on the right of the screen, select the ship to swap, then tap the circular arrow icon near the top right.

Ship Formations and Damage Types

Each formation corresponds to a specific damage type. Heroes sharing the same damage type synergize most effectively with each other and benefit from ships built around that type.

Formation Damage Type Strengths Weaknesses Best Against
Artillery Direct (multi-target) Hits multiple ships simultaneously Less effective against single targets Enemy formations, PvP fleets
Cutthroat Direct (single-target) Burst damage; targets enemy with lowest HP Weaker against many ships at once Sea monsters, strong flagships, freighters
Blaze Damage-over-time (fire) Ignores armor via burning; 10% damage per stack (8 sec) Requires long fights to reach full effectiveness Heavily armored targets, sea monsters
Strategic Direct (balanced) Reliable damage in many situations; heroes use primarily skills No outstanding advantage Versatile general use
Drowning Damage-over-time (drowning) Ignores armor; targets highest HP enemies (20% per stack, 5 sec) Slow build-up to full effect High-armor targets, sustained attrition fights

The Pioneer Fleet System

The Pioneer Fleet system allows players to operate a separate fleet independently of the main Flagship fleet. This second fleet can participate in its own activities — such as Titan fleets or trade routes — without affecting normal seafaring and battles on the World Map.

The Pioneer Fleet system is divided into four specialized fleet types:

Pioneer Fleet Type Function
Battle Fleet For battles against other players and world boss events
Trade Fleet For automated trade routes; generates resources through trading
Mining Fleet Resource extraction (introduced in future updates)
Exploration Fleet Exploration of new areas (introduced in future updates)

Ships from the main fleet can be temporarily loaned to the Pioneer Fleet to plunder ports or engage in combat. The Trade Fleet is particularly valuable: when rerolling available trade ships, rare rewards such as Hymn Conches or Throwing Knives can be obtained.

Ship Specializations and Notable Ships

Ships are built in three quality tiers: Rare (blue), Epic (purple), and Legendary (orange). When building a new ship (requires: ship plan + 20 carpenter's hammers), there is a chance of obtaining a higher quality result.

Notable ships:

  • Warhammer: Considered one of the strongest ships in the game; ideal when crewed with Cutthroat heroes.
  • Fearless Princess: Strong damage ship for Strategist heroes.
  • Dragon Lance: Rare defensive ship with strong damage reduction; ideal as an alternative flagship.
  • Black Raven: Offensive ship that increases the overall damage output of the entire fleet.

Tips

  • Tip: Always upgrade your Flagship first — its level determines the maximum level of all other ships in your fleet. Don't neglect companion ships, but the Flagship always comes first.
  • Tip: Build your Flagship as a tank using the Sovereign o' the Sea ship part set and equip it with durable heroes like Ahab or Armstrong. A surviving Flagship is the foundation of every fight.
  • Tip: Match your formation type to the enemy: Artillery against enemy fleets, Cutthroat against sea monsters and strong single targets, Blaze and Drowning against heavily armored opponents in longer fights.
  • Tip: Make active use of the Pioneer Fleet's Trade Fleet to passively generate resources while your main fleet explores the world map.
  • Tip: If you need a companion ship temporarily for the Pioneer Fleet or a special mission, separate it with drag-and-drop and return it to the main fleet afterward.
  • Tip: Heroes of the same damage type strengthen each other. Do not mix damage types on the same ship — a specialized formation is significantly stronger than a mixed crew.
